About Us

Better futures for children.

Valuing reunification and family preservation, WMPC and its partner agencies seek to strengthen and empower families, increasing reunifications and decreasing the time children spend in the child welfare system. WMPC prioritizes placing children with relatives and procuring adoption services only when return to home is not possible.

Our Vision

A community of safety, belonging, resiliency, and hope where children and families flourish.

Our Mission

Empowering communities to create better futures for children and families through innovation and collaboration.

Our Work

WMPC is transparent and accountable to its community and stakeholders for improving the lives of children in Kent County. In solidarity with the people most affected by the child welfare system, we are partners in this journey to create better futures for children.

2024-25 Strategic Plan

For the next fiscal year, we have developed a strategic plan with 4 specific goals that will benefit our partner organizations, families, and children in our programs.

Our Programs

Enhanced Foster Care (EFC) is a community-based service designed to ensure the permanency and stability of youth with acute behavioral and emotional concerns. EFC includes a range of services aimed at cost-effectively caring for children in family settings rather than 24-hour supervised group care, such as Child Caring Institutions (CCI).

  • Michigan Child Welfare Partnership Council,
  • and legislators.
